
Our Mission Statement
MISSION STATEMENT OF BUCCANEER FOOTBALL
& FRIENDS FOUNDATION, INC.
The business and purposes of this non-profit
Foundation shall be to (a) to re-establish and
perpetuate a successful football program at East
Tennessee State University; (b) to develop, promote and
further the skills and knowledge of the amateur student
football athlete at East Tennessee State University;
(c) to develop, promote and further the qualities of
education, leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal
and the drive for academic excellence in student
football athletes at East Tennessee State University;
(d) to solicit tax deductible donations to be used to
fund grants to East Tennessee State University; (e) to
attempt to raise funds to give grants to East Tennessee
State University to assist them in building a football
or multi-purpose regional stadium at East Tennessee
State University; (f) to promote and further the
activities of the ETSU University Band and Cheerleaders
and (g) in the event that East Tennessee State
University does not re-establish a football program by
June 2010, to disburse any remaining funds to one or
more charitable institutions as determined by the Board
of Directors at that time.
It is the plan of the Foundation to make grants
through East Tennessee State University for the use of
the East Tennessee State University Athletic Department
for purposes consistent with the goals and objectives
included in our Mission Statement.
These grants will further the purpose of our
organization by supporting the University in their
desire to bring back the ETSU Football Team and
Marching Band and helping to ensure the success of
those programs in the future by providing grant money
for scholarships for athletes and Marching Band
Members.
The Foundation will accept contributions of: real
property; conservation easements; closely held
securities; intellectual property such as patents,
trademarks, and copyrights; works of music or art;
licenses; royalties; automobiles, boats, planes, or
other vehicles; or collectibles of any type. At
present, none of these types of contributions have been
received by the Foundation.
With regard to each of these potential donation
categories, the Foundation, the only condition which
the Foundation will agree to is that the contribution
be used exclusively to further the purposes and goals
of the Foundation.
The Foundation shall not carry on any activities not
permitted to be carried on by (a) a Foundation exempt
from federal income tax under section 501 (c)(3) of the
United States Internal Revenue Code ("Code"),
or the corresponding provisions of any future United
States Internal Revenue Code or (b) an entity,
contributions to which are deductible under section 170
(c)(2) of the Code, or the corresponding provisions of
any future United States Internal Revenue Code.
